Welcome to St Twrog Church Llanddarog, near the National Botanic Garden of Wales. The Church was built at a high point between Carmarthen and Cross Hands and its distinctive steeple is a landmark for those travelling along the busy A48. It marks the place where worship and prayer have been offered since the sixth century when Twrog, a Holy man of God, established his community – his ‘Llan’ – on this high point between the Gwendraeth and the Tywi valleys.

WHERE DO WE BELONG?

DONATIONS

Worship, prayer, witness, service and fellowship continues today with a lively congregation. Our life and worship reflects the character of a rural parish which has strong associations with coal mining in the Gwendraeth Valley.

The Holy Eucharist, the Church’s central act of worship, is celebrated each Sunday in either Welsh, English or Bi-lingually.  The liturgy we use is the Church in Wales 2004 Order for Celebration of the Holy Eucharist.  We welcome those who receive communion in churches of other denominations to share with us in Holy Communion.

For Matins and Evensong, we follow the more traditional pattern of Church in Wales Book for Common Prayer 1984 and 2009.

St Twrog Church is linked by the ministry of our Vicar to Llanarthne, Llangendeyrn and Cwmffrwd Churches.

These Churches, together with six others in this area form the united benefice of Local Ministry Area of Cydweli.

The Parish is in the Diocese of St Davids, the Church in Wales

We support numerous organisations including Carmarthen Foodbank, Carmarthen Toy Appeal, Plant Dewi and other local charities during the year.

LIFE EVENTS

BAPTISMS / CHRISTENINGS

MARRIAGES / WEDDINGS

FUNERALS

We are always delighted to celebrate the baptism of infants, children and adults through which we are made members of Christ and his Church.

We prefer to baptise in the Eucharist so that the whole of God’s family can welcome the newly baptised into the fellowship of the church. Private Baptisms are also welcome.

There is no charge for baptism – it is the free gift of God’s grace. Please complete the form below.

As a Parish Church, St Twrog’s is licensed for weddings and we are delighted to help you celebrate your big day.  To be married in church, the law requires that you are resident in the parish, i.e. the Parish and Local Ministry Area of Bro Cydweli.

Unlike baptism, there are statutory fees for marriage.  It is advisable to contact your local Parish Priest to arrange the date for your marriage as early as you can.

The Church has always been alongside communities and individuals at difficult times.  It is part of our ministry.

The clergy and funeral director will help as much as they can with a funeral.  There is provision for burials in St Twrog’s.

STATUTORY FEES: For information about the above or any of the services, please fill in this enquiry form or contact the Parish Priest when in place or Rev. Jean Voyle Williams, Associate Priest. We will contact you and explain to you what is involved and how to proceed.
