We are currently in an inter-regnum, i.e. without a Vicar, as Canon Dewi Roberts has moved on to Minister in another Parish.
ASSOCIATE PRIEST
Rev'd. Jean Williams was born in Cefneithin, moved to Porthyrhyd and later to Llanddarog where she has spent most of her life. Having attended Llanddarog V.C School and then Gwendraeth Grammar School, she studied at Trinity College, Carmarthen and became a teacher in 1969. She started her Teaching Profession at Abercerdin School, Gilfach Goch and then became a Religious Education teacher at Ystrad Tywi Secondary Modern School, Carmarthen. In 1978 she moved to Queen Elizabeth Cambria Comprehensive School, Carmarthen and retired as Assistant Head Teacher in 2005. In 2002 she won the Teacher of the Year Competition and was awarded the MBE in 2003 for her services to Education and the Community.
Having retired from her post of Part Time lecturer at the University of Trinity Saint David, Carmarthen, and having been a Lay Reader for many years, Jean was ordained as Assistant Curate in Llanddarog Church in 2020 and is now Associate Priest.
